- The advancement of Toxicology and its branches with a view to protect public health to facilitate the implementation of Justice.
- Consideration and submission of proposals concerning the practice of Toxicology in Greece and its establishment as a main field of specialisation.
- Consideration and submission of proposals to the State concerning the improvement of the laws related to matters of toxicological interest, like:
a. The protection of Public Health from any kind of toxic substances.
b. The protection of the Environment and the public from the harmful effect of pollutants, industrial waste etc. .
c. The maintenance of ecosystems balance.
d. The undesirable effects of occupational exposure of workers to toxic substances in their working environment.
e. The undesirable effects of drugs and their interactions with the human organism.
f: The investigation of applications of toxicological analysis in order to facilitate th
e implementation of Justice.
g. Drug addiction and its social implications.
h. The protection of laboratory animals from unnecessary and uncoordinated toxicological studies.
i. The undesirable effects of pesticides and other substances used in agriculture on public health end the environment.
j Whatever deals with the protection of the living organisms and the environment from the harmful effects of toxic substances in general.
- The improvement of the taught toxicology courses in the universities, both at the undergraduate and the postgraduate level.
- The protection of Toxicologists and the appreciation of their services to society.
- Keeping Greek toxicologists informed about the latest decisions of the several European Union (EU) committees in toxicological matters and co-ordination of the activities according to the directions given by the EU.
- Coordination of the activities of the people working in the field of Toxicology in Greece or in the rest of the World and maintenance of a high standard in the offered services.
Article 3
In order to achieve the above objectives the Society:
a) Carriers out toxicological studies in collaboration with its members.
b) Organises educational seminars, scientific discussions, lectures, congresses and other meetings.
c) Publishes several scientific issues for tile continuous updating on the current developments in the field of toxicology
d) Uses any legal means that it is considered suitable and at the same time morally, socially and scientifically acceptable for the advancement of Toxicology and the improvement of the work of Toxicologists.
